As of show time, the fundraiser planned to spotlight performers such as Dennis Kim (aka Denizen Kane), Kevin So, Golda Supanova, Jasper Redd, Brent Weinbach, Taiyo Ebato, Rain Noe, Organic Thoughts, Kontrast and more, and will be hosted by NYC’s own, Brian Buño.
David Wong, a Chinese immigrant, was framed for a murder that occurred in the Clinton Correctional Facility prison yard in 1986. He was unjustly convicted in 1987, and has been imprisoned for 16 years.
Despite compelling new evidence including a recantation of one of the key witness’ testimony and over a dozen affidavits attesting to David’s innocence, on October 3rd, Clinton County Court’s Judge Lawliss issued a 25 page opinion in which he denied David’s request for a new trial.
The David Wong Support Committee (DWSC) is outraged by this unjust decision that brings the criminal justice system in Plattsburgh and New York into grave disrepute and raises questions about its credibility.
The DWSC is a grassroots community organization that has steadfastly been working for David’s freedom for more than 12 years. The DWSC maintains that David Wong is innocent; he was framed by the criminal justice system because he was poor, an immigrant, had
no family in the United States, and had limited English language capacities at the time.
